What Is This Challenge About?
The Book Proposal Writing Challenge is a focused, supportive 5-day experience designed to help you craft a compelling book proposal—one that captures the heart of your idea and clearly shows how it belongs in the publishing world.

Whether your goal is traditional publishing or self-publishing, this challenge helps you move from “I think I have a book…” to “Here’s how this book works.”
We'll break the process into clear, doable steps so you can:
  • Clarify your book idea
  • Prove its marketability
  • Confidently articulate why your book deserves attention
  • Know if your concept is ready to share with an agent or an editor
No guesswork.
No spinning.
Just steady progress with guidance.

Who Is This Challenge For?

This is for you if you are:
  • A nonfiction, fiction, or memoir writer with a book idea you’d love to see published
  • Someone who loves to write but you aren't sure if your idea is strong enough
  • A writer who struggles to set aside focused, uninterrupted time to work on your project
  • Feeling stuck, uncertain, or overwhelmed by the publishing process

You're in the right place if you’ve been wondering:

How do I write a proposal that captures the heart of my book and gets the attention of agents and editors?

What do I need to do to make my project stand out from the competition?

What’s the best way to grab—and keep—a reader’s attention?

Why a Book Proposal Matters (even if you self-publish)

If you’re pursuing traditional publishing, a book proposal shows publishers that your book is a sound investment.

It explains:

• Why your book is needed
• Why you’re the right person to write it
• And how it can succeed in the marketplace

If you’re planning to self-publish, a book proposal functions as a comprehensive business plan—helping you make wise decisions about positioning, audience, and marketing before you invest time and money.

Either way, a strong proposal:

• Transforms an idea into a professional, marketable product
• Saves you time
• Increases your confidence
• And dramatically improves your chances of success

And if you’re planning to attend a writer’s conference this year, preparation matters.
When an agent or editor asks for your proposal, you don’t want to scramble—you want to be ready.

What To Expect and When

If you’re looking for support rooted in structure, clarity, and encouragement, here’s what the challenge includes:

Hear What Others Have To Say

"I give Alice Crider all the credit for getting me going on a “real” writer’s journey. She directed me through each step of the process from a dream to an outline to a writer’s conference to a full proposal to finding an agent, and now to a contract with a traditional publisher. She has been a tremendous help and encouragement."
~Lori Kuykendall, author and speaker

"Alice approaches coaching and writing from a fresh perspective of enjoying what we do rather than from a duty to write. Her inspiring InkWell emails lift my attitude to new levels of confidence and accomplishment! "
~Judy Turner, author
